چکیده

Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) is a common cause of infectious encephalitis in children, which can lead to severe neurological sequels. There new perspective suggesting that herpes simplex plays an important role triggering the synthesis NMDA receptor antibodies. have been no data on incidence anti-NMDA Indonesia. was found these patients as risk factor for encephalitis. A 9-year-old male patient complained seizures such jerking right hand and smacking lips along with fever 4 days before being admitted hospital. Complaints began slurred speech t inability fingers hold objects previous 8 days. From physical examination, it reported looked seriously ill, blood pressure 110/80 mmHg, pulse 117 beats per minute, temperature 38.5 C, respiratory rate 24 times minute. Another examination within normal limits. The results complete count at time initial treatment showed mild leukocytosis due increase monocytes, whereas gas electrolyte analysis hypoventilation beginning hospitalization mixed acid-base disturbance, acidosis, metabolic alkalosis occurred. Analysis cerebrospinal fluid mononuclear pleocytosis immunoserological test serum indicated HSV1 HSV2 infection detected receptor. Both clinical laboratory findings this study supported virus be suffering from

Combined Therapy for Anti-N-methyl D-aspartate Receptor Encephalitis

Background Anti-N-methyl- d-aspartate receptor (anti-NMDAR) encephalitis is an autoimmune neurological disorder that usually occurs as a paraneoplastic syndrome and is particularly associated with ovarian teratoma. Standard therapy for severe cases is not established and the prognosis in patients who do not respond to first-line treatment is poor. Case Report An 11-year-old boy complained ps...

N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor antibodies in herpes simplex encephalitis.

OBJECTIVE To determine the presence and kinetics of antibodies against synaptic proteins in patients with herpes simplex virus encephalitis (HSE). METHODS Retrospective analysis of 44 patients with polymerase chain reaction-proven HSE for the presence of a large panel of onconeuronal and synaptic receptor antibodies. The effect of patients' serum was studied in cultures of primary mouse hippo...

Pediatric Herpes Simplex Virus Encephalitis Complicated by N-Methyl-D-aspartate Receptor Antibody Encephalitis.

N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor antibodies (NMDAR-Abs) can contribute to neurological relapse after herpes simplex virus encephalitis (HSE). We describe a child with NMDAR-Ab encephalitis after HSE, which was recognized and treated early. We discuss the case in the context of existing reports, and we propose a modified immunotherapy strategy to minimize risk of viral reactivation.

Herpes simplex encephalitis as a potential cause of anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor antibody encephalitis: report of 2 cases.

IMPORTANCE Encephalitis mediated by anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antibodies and herpes simplex (HS) encephalitis are seemingly separate causes of encephalopathy in adults and children. Herpes simplex encephalitis is infectious, and anti-NMDA receptor antibody encephalitis is autoimmune in origin. Both can cause seizures and encephalopathy, although the latter can also cause psychia...

N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor antibodies in post-herpes simplex virus encephalitis neurological relapse.

Herpes simplex virus encephalitis (HSVE) is a devastating condition that relapses, often with a chorea in children, despite adequate antiviral treatment. At relapse, evidence of viral replication is frequently absent, suggesting that the relapse may be immune-mediated. Seven children who had a neurological relapse following their initial encephalitis, identified from 20 cases of pediatric HSVE,...
